I take immense pleasure whilst I write the editorial for the fourth successful edition of apna Asia magazine. This could not have been possible without the love, support and consistent belief placed in us by our readers and advertisers. I take this opportunity to thank one and all for making this happen. With apna Asia, we not only try and entertain you but also make an attempt to keep you aware and updated. There is an effort from our side to include something for everyone to read, and each issue is just a step ahead in that direction.

As a trend, we have tried to invoke the feeling of home away from home through the various articles on festivals.  This time we bring to you articles on Holi and Easter that shed light on why and how they are celebrated. Holi traces the journey of Prahlad and gives you some handy hints for celebrating it in a more careful fashion. Easter on the other hand uncovers the religious mystery while leaving your room filled with the smell of freshly baked Easter Eggs.

We however have not ruled out the realities of today. Recession has hit the United Stated, reminding us of the Depression of the 1930’s and the heat of this global meltdown is being felt by countries the world over. Our article on Recession provides an insight into how the Asian countries are faring through this rough period.

But as they say, the only way one can go from deep down, is up. Let’s hope for economies and hopes to restore at the earliest.  To do our bit to cheer you up, we’ve got a story of a teenager. Don’t mistake Sufyan to be a just another guy. He has labored more than most of us at just 17! You will have to read Sufyan’s success story to agree with what I say.

March does not only mark the beginning of spring but also the end of the second quarter of the fiscal year. Several questions and queries arise in ones mind while thinking of how to save earnings from tax deductions. The article on Tax gives you options to keep you updated on the ‘taxing’ season.

T.S. Eliot’s view of April being the cruelest month now seems to get consensus more than ever. Wondering why? Well it’s because so many of our youngsters take their exams in the same month. And though they are well read and prepared the stress of examination takes a toll on them. There are several things that go into making examinations such a concern. The Cruelest Month article unfolds how two generations face and organize themselves for the examination.

When man fails in his visible efforts to do something, he turns to the powers of the unknown. I am very glad to announce that the next issue of apna Asia i.e. the May-June edition will be dedicated to travel.
